Morpeth Town welcome Bamber Bridge to Craik Park for a Pitching In NPL Premier Division clash that is sure to be entertaining.

Bridge took six points off the Highwaymen last season – one of only two teams to do so – meaning the Highwaymen will be on the look out for three points on Tuesday night.

LAST TIME OUT

Morpeth Town were in superb form at Stalybridge Celtic, dismantling the home side at Bower Fold inside 36 minutes. Taking a 3-0 lead, thanks to goals from Connor Thomson, Sam Fishburn, and Callum Morris, the only downside to the afternoon was the dismissal of Morris for a second yellow card on 76 minutes. It failed to take the gloss off a convincing away day success.

Bamber Bridge were still in the FA Cup at the Second Qualifying Round stage but faced a tough visit from Buxton, a side promoted from the NPL Premier Division last season as champions. The latter showed their class to win 3-0 in the end and send Bamber crashing out of the competition prior to tonight’s encounter.

THE GAFFER

Morpeth Town boss Craig Lynch is eager to put home advantage to good use when Bamber Bridge travel to Craik Park for a midweek encounter. Always notoriously difficult for any side, a midweek visit is fraught with additional difficulties that make results on the road hard to achieve.

“They come to us on a Tuesday night so that is them already with a bit of a negative attitude,” continued Lynch.

“We’ve had games away from home on a Tuesday night and it’s hard finishing work early etc. We’ve got to go into the game with the same mentality we had against Ashton and Lancaster, we’ve got to get at them from the off.

“They took six points off us last season and we have got to rectify that. That’s going to start with the way we start the game, we’re not going to let them ease their way into it and get a foothold.”
