Andrew Johnson is ahead of schedule as he looks to take the next step towards playing again.

The forward suffered a nasty shoulder injury in pre-season, needing two surgeries to correct the issue.

With the second of those surgeries now complete, the countdown is on for AJ, who is set to return two months ahead of predicted timelines.

“AJ has worked extremely hard and been able to get the second surgery to have the pins removed a couple of months ahead of time,” said Head of Sports Science Steven Shaw.

“We’re now looking at him being available for selection in around six weeks time. We were originally looking at January/February time but he has worked so hard.

“He has been able to get back doing most parts of training for the last month so with all the rehab and the time he has been able to dedicate to the gym, he’s stronger than he was before.

“His fitness is right up there, so as soon as he is given the green light he will be ready.”
