Morpeth Town 3-1 Prescot Cables

The Highwaymen continued to gather momentum as they dispatched Prescot Cables at Craik Park, beating them 3-1.

The first half was defined by an 11th league goal of the season for Highwaymen forward Nic Bollado.

A moment of magic from Sam Hodgson after half-time confirmed a well-deserved three points for the Peth.

The first chance of substance came for the home side and it resulted in a goal, as Danny Barlow crossed into the danger area and Nic Bollado was waiting to aim his header into the corner.

The visitors had a huge chance to reply five minutes later as the ball fell perfectly to Edy Maieco eight yards out but he leant back and fired out of the ground.

On the hour mark everyone at Craik Park thought Bollado had his and Morpeth’s second as he followed up a rebound from just yards out and hammered it towards goal, but Bradley Mooney did exceptionally to stretch his leg out and block it.

Not too long after Sam Hodgson scored a beauty as he curled in from 20 yards out into the top corner – his first goal since rejoining the club for a third stint.

A third followed as Danny Barlow was fed in behind by Will Dowling and the tricky midfielder hammered his effort into the top corner.

The Merseyside team did find a late consolation late on as Nelson Digbeu instinctively struck the ball from the edge of the box and it swerved into the corner.

Morpeth XI: Langley; Evans, Buddle, King, Robson; Hickey, Barlow, Dowling; James, Hodgson, Bollado (Foalle 68’).
