The biggest game of the season awaits Morpeth Town when they welcome Shildon to Craik Park on Saturday (3pm).
With only a handful of teams able to get within touching distance of The Highwaymen in EBAC Northern League Division One, Shildon are one of those sides who pose a genuine threat to Town’s title hopes.
Morpeth are currently on a four-game winning streak and are now unbeaten in 11 league outings. But visiting Shildon have a perfect record on the road, with six victories from six, providing all the ingredients for an absolute classic at the weekend.
Ahead of the contest, we are putting the finishing touches to a 44-page match day programme full of new Morpeth Town content with a guest column from TalkSport’s Tony Incenzo as well as an interview with Keith Graydon and fantasy five-a-side with Wayne Phillips. With lots more, don’t forget to pick it up for just £1.50 from the front turnstile as you come in. Here’s a snippet of the interview with joint-manager Dave Malone:
Shildon knocked Town out of the FA Cup at the start of the season, but joint-manager Dave Malone believes it will be a much different game this time around.
“They thoroughly deserved to beat us 2-0 on the day,” said Morpeth boss Malone.
“On the day we played them, we didn’t play at all.
“They stopped us from playing and got an early goal which knocked us out of our stride so I think on the day we just didn’t perform.
“We didn’t have enough players who played well early doors.
“But on Saturday, on our pitch where we normally play really well, I think it will be a different game.
“It’s a game we are definitely looking forward.”
Tickets are available on the gate; adults £6, concessions £4 and children £1
