Morpeth Town seek to bounce back from FA Vase disappointment when they welcome Blyth AFC to Craik Park on Wednesday.
In the first competitive meeting between the two sides, The Highwaymen will be eager to return to winning ways quickly after losing 1-0 at Ashton Athletic on Saturday.
SNAPSHOT PREVIEW
FORM: Morpeth were on a winning streak stretching to five games before Saturday’s FA Vase exit. They’ve kept six league clean-sheets from a possible 22 (in league and cup) but the most recent blank was against Shildon last time out in Division One. More positively, Town have only conceded five goals in the last six league matches.
Blyth are having a positive campaign and have only lost once in their last six league games. Conceding 11 goals in that stint, they are prone to leaking goals but have won three of their last four which makes them a dangerous prospect. On their travels, in the league, they have dropped points in six of their 11 outings.
LAST GAME: Morpeth travelled to Ashton Athletic hoping to take the next step in the FA Vase. But their second-round tie didn’t go to plan, Daniel Smith netting after seven minutes as Town succumbed to a 1-0 defeat. This was despite battering at the door for long spells.
Blyth beat Jarrow 1-0 at home to go seven unbeaten in all competitions. David Robinson was the difference between the sides as he scored eight minutes after the interval to give the Braves victory.
ONE TO WATCH: Robinson has bagged seven goals from 22 appearances, not bad at all considering he’s a midfielder. The driving force of the team, Keith Graydon, Stephen Turnbull and co will have their work cut out to shackle him.
WHERE TO WATCH: Craik Park, Morpeth.
