Morpeth Town welcome Seaham Red Star to Craik Park (7.30pm) fresh from an unfamiliar feeling; a rare league defeat. After suffering s 3-2 defeat at West Auckland Town on Saturday, Morpeth’s 12-game unbeaten streak came to an end. But as is the way with records, their ending is a chance to start a new one and that can only begin with a win against Seaham.

SNAPSHOT PREVIEW

FORM: Morpeth Town had been on an outstanding run of 12 games unbeaten before a rare loss at West Auckland ended that. Only their second loss in 29 league games, Town have been imperious at Craik Park and are yet to lose on home soil in league and cup this season. Just looking at their home league form, 12 victories and two draws means two thirds of the division have tried and failed to take three points from the home of The Highwaymen. No-one has scored more at home than Town’s 41 goals and no-one can get near their stingy 15 goals conceded at Craik Park either.

Seaham are not on the best run of form at the moment having lost three, drawn two and won only once in their previous six league games. Hugely inconsistent, Seaham have won four and lost five away from home in Division One, a stat which explains their 14th place position at present. Their last league victory was five games ago so Morpeth will be looking to break down a defence that only three teams can better away from home.

LAST GAME: Morpeth Town were 3-2 down by half-time in a game with West Auckland Town which finished with the same score-line. Nathan Fisher and Daniel Parker turned the game around after Curtis Coppen had stooped to head Town in front on 17 minutes. Chris Reid equalised on 43 minutes with another header from a set-piece but Amar Purewal ensured three points, despite Town banging on the door for most of the second half, for the hosting West Auckland.

Seaham warmed up for their trip to Craik Park with a 2-2 draw at home to struggling Ryhope CW. The latter are in the bottom reaches of the division but managed to take a point from Seaham on Saturday.
