A 1-1 draw was a terrific result considering Morpeth Town played 65 minutes with 10 men. Here’s what we learned:
Goals are like buses
You wait ages for one and then two come along at once. That’s certainly the case in the goal stakes for David Carson as his expertly taken equaliser made it two in two for the midfielder, after failing to register this season. One of the standout performers so far, Carson spoke of his eagerness to deliver goals to the team, and he is certainly doing that over the past two games.
The referee was like Bambi on ice
Always a source of much amusement when the ref slips over, poor Matthew Tyres didn’t just go over one time, but twice in the first half. The man in the middle shrugged it off with a smile and carried on officiating. Fair play to him!
Chris Reid can shoot from anywhere!
Chris Reid, not known for his goalscoring, unleashed a 50-yard effort as he tried to catch the keeper off his line.
Although it hit the stand behind the goal, it suggested the defender is confident of finding the back of the net, regardless of the distance.
