Following a rare 2-1 loss in Evo-Stik East, we take a look at three things the Highwaymen learned from their trip to Loughborough Dynamo:
It’s great to see Dan Lowson back in goal
Following an extended time spent on the sidelines through injury, and complications in hospital, it was great to see Dan Lowson back between the sticks. The keeper showed no signs of rustiness, making a few vital saves as Morpeth pressed for a late equaliser by pushing men forward. Although that goal didn’t come, Morpeth were still in with a shout in the closing stages partly because of Lowson’s efforts.
Liam Henderson was a menace
Coming off the bench with a third of the game to go, the Morpeth Town striker changed the complexion of the game with a bustling display which showed composure and strength on the ball, as well as quick thinking, to act as a link man in the build-up to chances. A physical presence, Henderson grabbed the game by the scruff of the neck and helped Morpeth create chance after chance in the closing stages.
Sean Taylor is back among the goals
After scoring over 100 goals for the Highwaymen, you’d almost expect Sean Taylor to score on a regular basis for Morpeth. But, following a spell out injured, Taylor has been finding his feet. However, he was back on the goal trail on Saturday, netting with a near-post finish that got his team back into the contest. Although spurning a late chance to level, Taylor was a huge threat in the second half, making for positive viewing heading into the winter months.
