A bumper crowd is expected on Tuesday evening when the Highwaymen face current holders Newcastle United U23’s in the semi-finals of the Techflow Marine Northumberland Senior Cup.

Route to the Semi-Finals
Morpeth were in Northumberland Senior Cup action on Wednesday evening and were made to work hard by their hosts Heaton Stannington before triumphing 3-2. Jack Foalle opened the scoring the Highwaymen before Joe Kerridge struck for the hosts. Stuart Mott and Iulian Petrache put the visitors back in control before Connor Campbell scored a stoppage time penalty for the Stan.
Newcastle had a much more routine victory over Blyth Spartans, winning 7-2. Kelland Watts grabbed a hat-trick and there was a brace for Yannick Toure. Rosaire Longelo and Juan Cumbrebas added to the score with further strikes. A brace from Bradley Fewster were all that the Spartans could manage.
Last Match
The Highwaymen extended their unbeaten run to 8 games on Saturday with victory over Spalding United. The game came to life on the hour mark as Jack Foalle fouled in the area and Joe Walton netting the resulting penalty. The visitors saw Rudy Misambo and James Cullingworth sent off before ‘keeper Matthew Duggan unluckily scored an own goal. The returning Sean Taylor sealed the points when he slotted home with 5 minutes remaining.
Newcastle U23’s were in action in the capital on Friday night and won 1-0 at Fulham. Jonjo Shelvey scored the only game as the midfielder continued his recovery from injury and eager to have some match practice.
