Morpeth Town can confirm that assistant manager Jon McDonald has left the club to join Dunston UTS.
Taking up the same role at the North East side, McDonald ends a second stint at Craik Park which has seen two promotions, a title win and a Senior Cup triumph.
The former Highwaymen was keen to thank those involved in his two periods at the club and wished everyone well for the future.
““It was an opportunity that came out of the blue, to be honest. I was happy at Morpeth but Dunston approached the club and I asked to speak with them,” said former assistant boss McDonald.
“I heard what they had to say and they offered an attractive proposition in terms of what my role would be.
“After six years at Morpeth, I’ve had a great time, won two promotions, a league title and a Senior Cup. But this is an exciting new challenge for me.”
“I’d like to thank everyone associated with my two stints at Craik Park and wish the club all the best for the future; I’ll still be keeping an eye on the scores!”
Highwaymen Chief Executive Officer Mark Hedley praised McDonald for his input during, arguably, the best time in the history of Morpeth Town.
“He has been a fabulous servant to the club over a number of years,” said Hedley.
“We’re sad to see him go as he has played his part in a hugely successful time for the club. We wish him well and he’ll be welcome back any time for a pint and to watch a game at Craik Park (unless we’re playing Dunston!).
“Dunston are a fantastic North East club, like ourselves, so he goes to an upwardly mobile team.”
