Morpeth Town are delighted to announce the return of Sean Taylor to the squad for next season.
The winger had stepped away from first team action due to the extensive travel requirements which go with playing in an NPL Premier Division side.
However, the lure of playing has been too much to resist and our leading all-time scorer will return to the squad for the forthcoming campaign.
After 132 goals in 318 appearances, Taylor will rejoin the group for pre-season training ahead of the big kick-off when competitive football returns to Craik Park in August.
Speaking ahead of his return, Taylor was delighted to be welcomed back into the fold and can’t wait to get started.
“I’m really looking forward to it,” Taylor told the Highwaymen club website.
“When I stepped away from it, I was getting frustrated with the amount of travel and the time it was taking up during your Saturday when getting to away games. The bus was often leaving just before 9am and we wouldn’t get back until after 10pm.
“But, when I wasn’t playing, I did start to miss it and being with the lads on matchdays. The pandemic and these lockdowns have made me miss playing even more and it has allowed me to get my hunger back for the game.
“You can’t beat three points on a match day; I’m looking forward to helping the team earn plenty more wins next season.”
Manager Stephen Turnbull believes having Taylor back in the squad will be like getting a new signing as he will bring plenty to an already outstanding group of players.
“It’s great news and we’re delighted to have him back,” said Turnbull about Taylor’s return.
“He brings a lot of quality and experience having played professional football and been with Morpeth Town for such a long time.
“He knows what is expected and he plays with pride in the shirt, which we expect from all of our players.”
Looks like we will all get to see the best first touch in non-league football once again!
