Morpeth Town are happy to announce the recruitment of David Bujara as Chief Scout.

As part of the on-going evolution both off and on the field, the Highwaymen are seeking to restructure and ramp up their scouting side, with Bujara set to feature prominently.

Formerly of Wolverhampton Wanderers Academy, Crawley Town, Brentford, AFC Fylde and most recently Middlesbrough Women, Bujara will support the long-term transfer strategy, as well as co-ordinating opposition scouting and talent spotting.

“A few days after I stepped away from my role with Middlesbrough Women FC, Callum got in touch and asked if we could sit down and discuss the possibility of me coming onboard and assisting with scouting and recruitment for the club,” said Bujara when discussing his appointment.

“After speaking to Callum and Mark about how the club has invested, and is wanting to further invest, and how they are now wanting to push forward and invest on the pitch, Morpeth Town struck me as a club who are wanting to do the right things.

“It is a project that is not looking one month, or even one season ahead, but wanting to put structures and processes in place that will let us compete and progress for many seasons to come.

“It was that notion, of not just looking to build a starting XI, but wanting to help build a club, which really piqued my interest.

“It is a real cliche but I am looking forward to the challenge, taking what I have learned and practiced during previous roles to help Morpeth Town achieve.”

Bujara has already got the wheels in motion and is keen to get started.

“My role will be to lead a team of scouts who will be out at matches gathering information, and gaining insight on potential transfer targets, but who will also be looking at our up and coming opponents and compiling match reports,” he added.

“We are based in a tight geographical area, with a lot of clubs vying for the same players, or on the look-out for the next gem coming from lower down the league pyramid, so we need to make sure we are the ones who are ahead of the curve with our information, and that we are accurate and honest with our reporting so we bring in the right players to help the club progress.

“Obviously the now is also important. We have had an underwhelming start to the season, and the fans and the club were expecting more, especially after months of upheaval and cancelled seasons. Myself and my team have to get it right from the get-go.

“I have already been at matches, I have already been having conversations with people about players, and with scouts about potentially coming onboard, so the wheels have been set in motion.”
