Morpeth Town are delighted to announce a significant new shirt sponsorship deal with Admired Group.

A leading UK property investment company based in Northumberland, they work with both new investors acquiring their first investment property and experienced investors expanding their property portfolio.

Company CEO and Founder Gary Powell, who played for the Highwaymen in the 1997/98 season, was delighted to provide support for the club as they embark on a new campaign in the Pitching In Northern Premier League.

“I am very excited to have agreed our partnership with Morpeth Town FC; it’s a great club and even better it’s on my door-step,” Powell exclusively told the club website.

“I wanted to give back to our community, especially now during these unprecedented times. It was a perfect opportunity for me to do so.

“I’m a massive football fan. If I am being honest, I got sick of watching Newcastle United and can see there is so much more endeavour from the players in the non-league ranks than a lot of the professionals.

“There were two components that compelled me to become shirt sponsor. Firstly, non-league football played a huge role in my life and, secondly, the fact I have a fantastic relationship with Ken Beattie (Morpeth Town chairman).

“I moved to Morpeth about six years ago and it’s safe to say I have never looked back. It’s a great town and it has a huge sense of community feel.

“During lockdown, I discovered new places that I never knew existed in Morpeth and during that time it definitely made me realise how good we have it here.

“I just felt I needed to give something back and now living in Morpeth, I thought Ken Beattie and the club was my perfect choice to help.”

Powell made over 20 appearances for the club during the days of Archie Gourlay and Kevin Henderson, before work commitments and injury curtailed his stay at the club.

“I played for the club during the 97/98 season and was brought in to help a lot of the younger players as I was 30 at the time and had played for the likes of Spennymoor and Gateshead in the Northern Premier League, and Tow Law and Durham City in the Northern League,” he continued.

“Unfortunately, I only played circa 25-30 games, including cups, for Morpeth due to getting a bad ankle injury and then my work career took me to living and working in Singapore for five years and then on to Hong Kong for five years.

“Morpeth Town and I never really got the best out of each other, I’m afraid, but I thoroughly enjoyed the team camaraderie.”

Looking ahead to a campaign with the Admired Group logo on the strip, how does Powell think the club will fare?

“I think Nicky Gray has done an incredible job and left the club in great shape for Stephen Turnbull to take them further up the leagues,” he concluded.

“So, for me, Morpeth Town most definitely have a good chance of winning the league this season, especially with their recent signings.

“Hopefully, Admired Group’s partnership is the club’s lucky charm!”

Chairman Beattie was delighted to secure the deal as another local company invested their finance and faith in the club’s ambitious plans.

“We are delighted to get the deal completed,” said Beattie.

“The club has evolved beyond all recognition in recent years and we need to keep that momentum going both on and off the pitch.

“Working with companies to create a community club is essential for the bright future that is on the horizon at Craik Park.

“Admired Group is an outstanding success story for Northumberland and the region as a whole so it is wonderful that Gary is keen to support Morpeth Town.”
