Our charity for November is one that deals with mental health in the region; If U Care Share.
The foundation came about in 2005 as a result of two brothers’, and a cousin’s, actions (Ben and Matthew Smith, and Sarah Smith) when their other brother (Daniel O’Hare) tragically took his own life at the age of 19.
Inside Out is a national campaign, launched in 2014 to mark Worldwide Suicide Prevention Day.
The campaign seeks to raise awareness of the importance of talking by bringing what is on the inside, out.
It is designed to prevent suicide, with the North East of England having the highest suicide rate in the country. Suicide is the biggest killer of men under the age of 40.
“It speaks volumes for the way the club is run that they are willing to give charities around the region a chance to be recognised throughout a busy season,” said patron Mark Carruthers of the partnership with the club.
“The foundation has great connections within the region’s non-league scene and this is another example of how the volunteers, supporters, players and management at the clubs are helping us share the work that we do.”
