You may well remember Morpeth Town’s newest recruit, Sam Fishburn, from last season.
The striker, who has joined until the end of the current campaign, was part of a Lancaster City side that started 2021-22 impressively, with Fishburn netting regularly, including at Craik Park.
“I might have scored at Morpeth, yes!” he joked when discussing his temporary move from EFL side Carlisle United.
“But this time it will be for Morpeth so it’s all good. Last season I had a little spell at Lancaster where it went pretty well and I got eight goals in nine games, so hopefully I can bring that to Morpeth and kick on from there.”
With previous experience at this level of football and a temporary stint at Blyth Spartans coming to an end, Morpeth moved quickly to secure a deal and add to an already competitive squad in terms of starting line-up.
It’s a scenario Fishburn is relishing as the 18-year-old seeks to increase his game time for the benefit of his development.
“I joined because I heard Morpeth had wanted me for a while and I like that when going into a club,” he added.
“Hopefully I can come in, help the team out by getting goals and contribute to winning games. Personally, I’m looking forward to getting as many games in as I can for my development and getting that experience of working with the team to get the best results possible.”
