For the month of September, The Friends of Morpeth Floral Clock will be our chosen charity of the month.
They are a group of local people fundraising to have the floral clock in Morpeth’s Carlisle Park maintained and planted in traditional carpet bedding.
A symbolic part of the town, the clock, situated at the entrance to Carlisle Park, was a gift made to the Borough in 1972 by James Fairbairn Smith in commemoration of the four years Alderman Bertram Jobson served as Mayor. After a decade of not working, in 2018 it was revived and is currently one of only four floral clocks in England.
The Friends of Morpeth Floral Clock are committed to raising money to keep the clock in good repair, pay for the growing and planting of the carpet bedding and working with the council to keep the clock ticking.
Any donations are warmly received.
