Morpeth Town welcome Warrington Town to Craik Park for our second clash with the Yellows on home soil this season.
The Highwaymen are looking to end a run of five defeats in a row, while Warrington will be keen to cement a positive run of form after a win at home to South Shields was followed by a draw with struggling Stalybridge Celtic at Cantilever Park.
LAST TIME OUT
Morpeth were beaten in cruel circumstances, as a 95th minute penalty saw Guiseley claim all three points at Northmoor on Saturday. The Highwaymen had put in the ideal away day performance until the final few seconds – defending strongly and looking increasingly threatening going forward – but Lewis Whitham struck decisively, after a penalty was saved by Dan Lowson, with no time left to recover the situation.
Warrington had to settle for a draw in their home clash with Stalybridge Celtic, a result they’ll be disappointed with after taking the lead thanks to James Harris’ 12th minute opener. Celtic responded on 64 minutes through Osebi Abadaki, with the game ending in a share of the spoils.
THE GAFFER
Highwaymen boss Craig Lynch is anticipating a difficult contest when Warrington arrive at Craik Park but is sure his side are up to the task.
“Warrington is another tough game on the back of a trip to Guiseley where I thought we were very close to getting a good point and a cleansheet,” he said.
“The lads’ effort was there and if they continue to match that, and keep the desire and belief, the results will change.
“We can’t let concentration and standards drop as we are getting punished for it at the moment.”
Prior to the 1-1 draw with struggling Celtic, Beesley was keen to get his side focused on what is in front of them immediately, as opposed to looking ahead to future battles and the league table as it stands and what could be.
“We’ve got to look at what’s in front of us and deal with that first,” he added.
“Every team in this league is good and if you don’t respect who you’re playing against, everybody knows what can happen.
“We’ve got to be at the top of our game.”
