Morpeth Town 1-1 Leek Town
A game of not too many chances was settled by two moments of magic from either side as Jack Foalle and Adam Porter scored beauties at Craik Park on Saturday afternoon.
The game opened up with few chances or attacking phases of play until a quarter of an hour in when a Leek corner deflected off a Morpeth body and Dan Langley reacted superbly to push the ball away down to his left.
Up the other end the Highwaymen went and Jack Foalle cut in from the left and unleashed an unstoppable curling strike into the top corner.
Just after half an hour Sam Hodgson almost made it two as he hit a venomous half-volley and Leek’s ‘keeper Visser stopped it with his head, although he knew little about it.
The visiting side came out after the break with more intent and 10 minutes in, Taylor Bowen found himself one-on-one with Langley but the latter came out on top and made a smart save down to his left.
Leek did find their equaliser at the death when Adam Porter picked up a loose ball 25 yards out and put it into the top corner in an unstoppable manner.
There were chances to win it straight after, twice from the same position, when two other Leek players tried the same finish but they both went wide of the mark.
