Player assistant Stephen Turnbull has warned of the perils of a midweek away game as Morpeth Town seek to make it nine wins in succession at Pontefract Collieries.
The Highwaymen are bang in form, currently sitting top of the table, and head to Pontefract full of confidence. However, a midweek away outing presents its own unique challenges in non-league football, ones that Morpeth must be wary of.
“Any midweek game away from home is going to be tough,” said Turnbull.
“Pontefract will be a dangerous opponent; they are very direct with long throws and corners. Include the fact that the players will be finishing work and driving down in cars, it is going to be tough. But they are the games that win you leagues. We’re buzzing with the confidence and we’re absolutely cooking at the minute; long may that continue.”
If you can’t make the game, we will have live coverage on Highwaymen Radio (through Mixlr), with updates on Twitter too.
