Morpeth Town ended Guiseley’s 17-match unbeaten run – which stretches back to September – after 2-0 victory at Craik Park on Tuesday evening.

The Highwaymen made a rapid start as they went one up after five minutes when Luke James eyed up goal from 25 yards out and his strike deflected and looped over a helpless Joe Cracknell in goal.

Craig Lynch’s men had more chances to increase the lead throughout the first-half but couldn’t find the finishing touch.

The visitor’s only real chance of the evening came halfway through the opening period when Ibbitson flashed a strike across goal from close distance.

After half-time Nic Bollado capped off a direct, route one move as Langley’s punt up was nodded on to Luke James who drove to the byline, pulled the ball back and Bollado was waiting to fire home from 10 yards out.

Three points takes Morpeth up to eighth place with neighbours Hebburn Town and Stockton Town in sight.
