Morpeth Town is delighted to announce the double loan signing of South Shields pair Sam Hodgson and Will Jenkins.
Pending FA approval, striker Hodgson and midfielder Jenkins will be available for Saturday’s trip to Basford United in the Pitching In NPL Premier Division season opener.
Both have penned deals until January 2nd 2024, and will be looking to make a similar eye-catching impact as they did last season during loan spells.
Hodgson featured at Stockton, Blyth Spartans, and then played against us for Marske United towards the end of the campaign, scoring a wonderful long-range free-kick, while Jenkins played regularly for Dunston UTS as they narrowly missed out on the play-offs in NPL East with the midfielder being named Supporters Player of the Season and Young Player of the Season.
Highwaymen boss Craig Lynch is delighted to secure the signatures of the duo, after seeking to reinforce an already talented and experienced squad.
“We are delighted to bring in both Sam and Will to the club,” said the Morpeth manager.
“Sam, more so than Will, has played against us a couple of times for South Shields and Marske and scored some key goals against us which I hope he can now recreate in a Morpeth shirt.
“He’s a number nine that we’re delighted to bring in; we’ve waited patiently for someone like Sam to come up. If he does half as well as the last Sam Hodgson who played for us, he will be a great addition to the team.
“Will is someone we’ve kept a close eye on over the last year with his loan at Dunston. He won awards for a team who got close to the play-offs in the league below so the next step in his development is to play regularly at our level which I think he will have no problem doing.
“Signings five and six this summer again fit the profile we’ve looked to bring in and we can’t wait to see them play for us this season.
“Many thanks to South Shields for trusting and allowing the two lads to continue their development with us this season.”
