Contact is a charity that was set up over 30 years ago and for the month of October will be our charity of the month.
Designed to look after the needs of vulnerable people of all ages who have mental health problems, the charity runs a drop in centre in Grey’s Yard, Morpeth, from Tuesday to Friday (10-4pm).
A large number of their members live on their own and come to socialise, as they often find it difficult to socialise.
Contact run a coffee bar, which provides drinks and lunches and is run entirely by volunteers.
Any activities at the centre are free for the members and this includes counselling, IT, photography, talking voices, art and mindfulness.
When affordable, Contact volunteers will arrange for a day trip out to places the members choose to go to.
In the past, they have had holidays but not last year as finances have dried up.
Aiming to raise more money for the cause, Contact will be present at our home games throughout October as they look to continue their sterling work with members of our community.
Any donations are appreciated on match days.
