Morpeth Town will hope to beat the weather and Consett when they make the journey to County Durham (3pm). The Highwaymen are looking to build another imperious run of form but face the challenge of a Consett side who are on a roll of their own.
SNAPSHOT PREVIEW
FORM: Consett were recently awarded club of the year and currently sit fifth in EBAC Northern League Division One. A 5-1 humbling at the hands of Marske United was a rare blip in an otherwise fine run of form which has seen them collect 17 points from a possible 24. A routine 3-0 win against struggling Penrith was following by an impressive 3-0 triumph against league chasing Shildon. Most recently, the Steelmen put four past Washington as they made it three victories in a row heading into the game with Morpeth Town. The fourth top scorers in the division, Consett will bring a real threat on Saturday.
The Highwaymen are bang in form once again and looked like returning to the blistering start of earlier in the campaign when they swept aside all opponents in free-scoring fashion during the win against Ryhope CW. The 3-1 triumph was the first time they have put more than two past an opponent since beating Penrith 6-0 in mid-October. Their goals against tally in away league outings is the envy of many in the division with 11 goals leaked in 10 games, and three of those were given away at Seaham Red Star meaning the record is more like eight conceded in nine league games.
LAST GAME: Consett’s 4-1 win at Washington was more of an expected result than most. Picking up impressive results recently, Consett are an in form team who will bring plenty to the table when Town make the journey south.
Morpeth were creating plenty of chances as they beat Ryhope CW 3-1, courtesy of a Mark Davison strike early on and Liam Henderson brace in the second half. Despite their midweek game at Sunderland RCA being postponed due to the rain, Town will be raring to go on Saturday.
ONE TO WATCH: Michael Sweet has been in fine form in the first part of the campaign, claiming 12 goals. In the scoring charts, no-one comes close in the Consett ranks making Sweet a danger.
