As the season reaches the home straight, Morpeth Town know their margin for error is reducing quickly. After a League Cup third round win over Willington in midweek, The Highwaymen travel to Shildon for one of the toughest away days in EBAC Northern League Division One.

SNAPSHOT PREVIEW
FORM: Shildon have dropped points in nine of their 17 home league games to date but have won three of their last four games in Division One, with their only loss at the hands of Marske United in a game where they had plenty of chances to gain at least a point. Two defeats in 11 at home in the league most recently is a statement of intent by The Railwaymen; they are a tough nut to crack at Dean Street.
Town have scored 11 more away goals in the league compared with any of their rivals. 49 strikes is mightily impressive, with The Highwaymen bouncing back to form on the road with a 3-1 win at Bishop Auckland following two surprise losses in succession. Seventeen matches on their travels have yielded just three Division One defeats so Morpeth are certainly formidable opponents for anyone.
LAST GAME: Both played in midweek, with Morpeth winning 4-1 at home to Willington in the League Cup third round. Joe Walton’s brace, coupled with Wayne Phillips’ strike and Mark Davison’s late fourth, ensured Jeffrey Smith’s goal just before half-time was a mere consolation. Shildon were also victorious on Wednesday night, beating Whitley Bay 2-1 at Dean Street. Billy Greulich-Smith scored, with an own goal separating the two teams at the final whistle.
