Morpeth Town midfielder Ben Sayer was happy to keep the momentum going following a dominant 6-0 win at Billingham Synthonia.
The Highwaymen extended their lead at the top of EBAC Northern League Division One to 18 points – rivals Marske United beat Hinckley 5-0 in the FA Vase on Saturday – by overwhelming bottom side Billingham.
Marske may have six games in hand, but they need to win all of them just to keep pace with Town. Midfielder Sayer, who opened the scoring with a 12th minute strike, insisted it is far better to have the points in the bag compared to games in hand.
