Morpeth Town are delighted to announce the return of midfielder Sam Hodgson to the club – yes both Sam Hodgsons are back!

Joining from Bishop Auckland, Sam will link-up with the Highwaymen until the end of the season.

During his five-year stint from 2018-2013, he helped us achieve promotion and also win the Northumberland Senior Cup two years ago.

Boss Craig Lynch is delighted to have his former man back: “We are very happy to have the opportunity to bring Sam back to the club, as anyone can see we have been down to 13 players the last month and it’s taking its toll on the squad with a lot of players playing through injuries.

“We have been fortunate with loans and having the academy but at this stage of the season we needed to bring someone in who understands the way we do things and can bring quality and experience to the team and Sam ticks those boxes.

“Sam will play his part to the end of the season with already making the decision to play local football from next season onwards.

“He deserves the opportunity to come back for a proper send off after being one the unsung heroes of the team in previous seasons before his long term injury cut his last season with us short.”
