Morpeth Town 3-0 Mickleover

The Highwaymen made it four wins in succession in the Pitching In Northern Premier League on Tuesday evening at Craik park, beating Mickleover Sports 3-0.

Will Marshall scored the first on the stroke of half-time to give a deserved lead going into the break.

Danny Barlow and Will Dowling produced fine strikes from distance to wrap-up the three points in the second period.

It was an evening where The Highwaymen played some eye-catching stuff and Dan Langley didn’t have to make a save, and there were an array of half-chances in the first-half – all from the edge of the area but failed to test Yusuf Mersin.

The breakthrough did arrive just prior to the break as Josh King played in an inch-perfect cross from deep to find Will Marshall who controlled excellently and slotted beyond Mersin.

It was more of the same after the break as Craig Lynch’s men continued to impress with their intricate play.

Two long-range stunners capped off the evening at Craik Park, first Danny Barlow danced his way to the edge of the box before firing hard and low into the back of the net.

Five minutes later Will Dowling struck from 25 yards on the half-volley to achieve his first goal of the season in some style.

It’s a trip to league leaders Macclesfield on Saturday in what will be a tough encounter, but The Highwaymen head to Lancashire in fine form!
