Morpeth produced a controlled performance away at Whitby Town on Saturday afternoon in the Pitching In NPL, winning 2-0.

From the first whistle Craig Lynch’s men showed the attacking qualities they posses with numerous free-flowing attacking combinations on show.

The opening goal however arrived from a corner as Danny Barlow delivered and a flick on found Nathan Buddle at the back post who taped home inside 10 minutes.

After half an hour the lead was almost doubled but prevented by the offside flag. An efficient moved saw Jordan Hickey feed through Sam Hodgson and he squared the ball to Nic Bollado to tap in, but he was adjudged to have made his move too early.

Minutes after the half-time interval the ball was in the Whitby net once again, this time Buddle produced a p0werful header on the end of a deep free kick but the referee saw a push. We’ll let ups come to your own conclusion when watching the highlights…

The second goal was eventually found and allowed to stand when 20 minutes from time when Bollado showed his dribbling prowess to breeze past two Whitby defenders inside the box and slot past Shane Bland.

There was a fantastic following in orange and black on the Yorkshire coast who all travelled back to Northumberland with smiles on their faces!
